Reporting directly to Xavier Lazarus, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Elaia and Lazard Elaia Capital (LEC), and acting in close collaboration with the previous Chief of staff and his executive assistant, the Chief of Staff acts as a trusted right hand, enabling him/her to operate at maximum effectiveness across all dimensions of his role. The CoS works at the intersection of investment, management, and strategy in the fast-moving, complex environment of a leading technology venture capital and growth equity firm.
This is a rare, high-exposure role offering a privileged vantage point on the full lifecycle of a VC and growth fund - from investment to portfolio management, and from firm strategy definition, fundraising execution and firm governance organisation. The CoS works closely with a team of experienced Managing Partners, each leading their own investment and operational teams, as well as with the teams. He/she plays a central coordination role across the firm's key moments.
Key Responsibilities
1/ Supporting Xavier Lazarus in his investor’s role
Help him prepare investment discussions, research notes, and supporting materials ahead of deal reviews and investment committee meetings for all investment strategies (VC and growth buyout)
Attend investment team meetings and contribute to investment analysis, structuring, and follow-up when needed
Assist in supporting his portfolio companies - tracking key milestones, reporting progress, reviewing board materials, facilitating introductions and follow-up actions
Help maintain and develop relationships with key academic partners, research institutions, and ecosystem stakeholders
2/ Supporting Xavier Lazarus in his CEO role
Prepare and coordinate key firm governance moments: board meetings, executive committees, investors annual meetings, budgeting…
Support Xavier in his role within the Lazard management team: monthly activity reporting, participation to executive committees…
Support the preparation and execution of fund launches, new strategy roll-outs, and fundraising processes
Assist in the development and execution of communication plans (internal and external), including investor communications and marketing materials
Contribute to strategic cross-functional projects and initiatives
3/ Day-to-Day Executive Support
Prepare Xavier Lazarus' meetings end-to-end: internal meetings (management, team, ad hoc), 1-to-1s with internal stakeholders, and external meetings with shareholder (Lazard), LPs, and business partners
Prepare presentations and briefing documents for internal and external audiences
Own the prioritisation and management of Xavier's agenda in close collaboration with his executive assistant and all relevant stakeholders
Ensure smooth information flow between Xavier and the firm's operational teams
4/ AI and Data Transformation
Elaia has been building a rich proprietary dataset over 20+ years of investment activity. The firm is now embarking on a strategic transformation journey to leverage AI and data across all its teams, and the Chief of Staff will be a central actor in this effort:
Act as a key driver and coordinator of the firm-wide AI and data implementation programme, working across all teams and functions
Support the selection, onboarding, and adoption of new AI-powered tools and data systems, ensuring alignment with the firm's workflows and strategic priorities
Proactively identify opportunities to improve internal processes and workflows, leveraging AI and automation to increase efficiency across teams
Champion change management and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Liaise with external partners, technology providers, and advisors involved in the transformation
