Job Description

The Mission: Join Elaia Digital Ventures as a Tech Analyst. You will leverage your engineering background to spot what purely financial profiles miss. While you start by bringing "scientific rigor" to our technical due diligence, your goal is to become a 360° Investor—mastering sourcing, deal execution, and board exposure. 80% of your time will be spent on Deal Flow & Analysis, and 20% on "Engineering our Edge" (building internal tools).

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Technical Due Diligence (The "Edge"): You lead the technical auditing of potential investments. You review architectures, challenge CTOs on scalability, and separate proprietary AI "moats" from simple API wrappers. You surface key technical risks (scalability, cost structure, security, data dependency) in a way that directly informs investment decisions.

  • Sourcing & Thesis Generation: You don't just wait for deals; you hunt for them. You will identify emerging tech trends (e.g., Agentic AI, Cyber-defense) and attend hackathons to spot engineering-led founders before anyone else.

  • Deal Execution & Support: You work hand-in-hand with Partners across the investment cycle—from data room analysis to deal execution and portfolio monitoring.

  • Engineer Our "Operating System": You act as a Builder-in-Residence. You prototype and ship internal AI agents (e.g., automated screening, competitor mapping) to reimagine how Elaia sources, evaluates, and prioritizes deals.

Preferred Experience

We are looking for a "Junior Architect" who combines deep engineering fluency with business curiosity.

  • Education: Master’s degree from a Top Tier Engineering School (e.g., Polytechnique, ENS, CentraleSupélec, EPITA, Mines). A major in AI, Data Science, or Computer Science is preferred. Equivalent experience through exceptional projects or open-source contributions will also be considered.

  • Experience: 0-2 years. You are either a fresh graduate with exceptional internships or have ~1-2 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Data Scientist, or Technical Product Manager.

  • "AI Native": You understand the modern AI stack (Transformers, RAG, Vector DBs, fine-tuning vs. prompt engineering) and actively follow recent research and open-source releases (e.g., Hugging Face, GitHub).

  • Tech Fluency: You can read code (Python, JS/TS) and understand cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes) well enough to challenge a diagram.

  • Mindset:

    • Curious but Skeptical: You love technology, but you verify every claim.
    • Diplomatic Challenger: You have the EQ to respectfully challenge a senior CTO on their architecture without being dogmatic or arrogant.
    • Articulate: You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.

Recruitment Process

We move quickly for the right candidate. Our process is designed to test your technical reasoning and your ability to synthesize information.

  1. Screening Call (30 mins): Background, motivation, and cultural fit.

  2. First Meeting (60 min): Discussion with a Partner on your technical and investment thesis.

  3. Technical Case Study (Async): Review a startup data room and identify key technical risks and strategic red flags.

  4. Second Meeting (60 mins): Case debrief, defending your analysis against a Partner or Senior Team member role-playing a founder.

  5. Final Partner Interview: Conversation to assess long-term potential and fit within Elaia.
